Hosted by the Department of International Cooperation of MOST and organized by Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and China International Marine Containers Co., Ltd (CIMC), the International Seminar on Rural Healthcare Informatization was opened in Yangzhou on 25th October. Eighteen trainees from eight African countries including South Africa, Burundi and Equatorial Guinea attended the opening ceremony, and would receive training on utilizing modular hospital in the twenty-day Seminar.
Facilities used during the training were the “Modular Hospital” and ancillary medical facilities developed by Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and CIMC Yangzhou Runyang Logistic Equipment Co., Ltd. The Modular Hospital, which is formed by 11 standard containers, has 11 function areas including general clinics, treatment room, pharmaceutical room and observation room, offering services like diagnosis, hospitalization and medicine. The Modular Hospital will be applied as demonstration projects in South Africa, Namibia, Cameroon and Angola etc.
Thanks to the Seminar, African medical staff could study and gain an in-depth understanding of the application of Modular Hospital and ancillary equipments. This is of great practical significance to the overall promotion of African-aid projects of MOST.
Representatives from Shenzhen Scientific and Technological Innovation Committee and CIMC attended the opening ceremony. Officials from the Department of International Cooperation of MOST delivered a special report on the system and policies of China’s scientific and technological innovation at the ceremony.
