| Description?o The National Engineering Research Center for Hybrid Rice was established with the backing of the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences in May of 1995 with the approval from the government. It has 5 departments: Scientific Research Department, Engineering and Development Department, Information and Training Department, Financial Department and Administrative Department. At present there are 70 staff members, including 50 research and development workers (24 senior scientists and 25 associate scientists) and 5 administrative persons.
Main Engineering R & D Areas
- Breeding for three?aline intervarietal, two?aline intervarielal and two?aline intersubspecific new hybrids adaptable to different ecological regions and the technologies for breeding, breeder's seed production, female rice line multiplication, F1 seed production and hybrid rice cultivation.
- Testing, standardized and engineering production procedure, processing and package of breeders' seed and F1 seed.
- Rice grain quality analysis and technology for rice grain processing of conventional and hybrid quality rice.
- Breeding, cultivation and processing technologies for rice varieties of fodder and industrial use.
