Description?o The National Engineering Research Center for Powder Metallurgy of Titanium and Rare Metals was established in 1993 with the approval of the government of China. It is supported by the Guangzhou Research Institute of Nonferrous Metals. At present five functional departments have been set up. That is Science and Research Development Department, Pilot Production Management Department , Market and sales Department, Information and Training Department and Comprehensive Administration Department. The Center has 55 staff members, of whom 36 are technicians scientific and technical personnel (15 senior engineer, and 21 engineer), 5 administrative persons.
Main Engineering R & D Areas
- Engineering technique of preparation of metal and alloy powders: Preparation of Ti, Zr, etc. metals and alloys power by hydrogenation/dehydrogenation process; preparation of Al, Sn, Zn, etc. metals and alloys powder by ultrasonic atomizaton; preparation of WC, Ag, Co, Fe metals and rare earth oxide powders such as Eu2O3, Tb4O7, etc.
- Development, manufacturing and applied engineering technique for high performence materials and products of powder metallurgy; wear resistant and corrosion resistant Ti?aalloy materials, porous materials, refractory metal materials such as W and Mo, electric contact materials, heavy alloys and antifriction materials, etc.
- Manufacturing technology for high performance Fe, Cu base sintering parts and powder forging parts.
- Testing technique of property of powders and powder metallurgy materials.
