Description?o Since its founding in March, 1990, the National Research Center for Intelligence Computing Systems (NCIC) has successfully developed a series of high-performance computing systems, such as Dawning-1 symmetric multiprocessor system (SMP), Dawning 1000 massive parallel processing system (MPP), Dawning 2000 massive parallel processing system, Dawning 3000 super-server and application system, Dawning NT Cluster and Dawning HA (High Availability) system.
NCIC has been taking the leading role in the development of advanced high-performance computers in China, and has served as technology engine in Chinese computer server industry. In particular, the Dawning series HPC have generated important impact to the advancement of domestic server industry, genome research, information security and satellite image processing. In addition, the laboratory provides important high-performance computing environment to Chinese Scientific and Engineering community. During the Tenth Five-year Plan period (2001-2005), apart from providing key technology to Chinese server enterprises, NCIC will aim at high performance data-intensive, grid-enabling computing systems and application optimization. |
