Sino-Japanese symposium on clean coal technology held in Beijing |

The annual symposium on clean coal technology convened on 26 June at the CAS Institute for Engineering Thermophysics (IET) in Beijing, attracting some 80 experts, scholars and industrialists from China and Japan.
Under the co-sponsorship of the CAS Bureau of Hi-tech Research & Development, the CAS Bureau for International Cooperation, Japan?痵 National Institute for Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and Japan?痵 New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), the symposium was jointly organized by the IET and NEDO?痵 Beijing Agency. In the course of the symposium, CAS Vice President Li Jinghai met with the Japanese participants.
Twelve well-known specialists in the field from the two countries were invited to make keynote speeches. They explored such topics as the coal combustion, gasification and pyrolysis, the coal characteristics and related databank, involving the latest results and developmental trends worldwide in the technical progress and industrialization in the field.
Experts say that the meeting was one of important activities in the field carried out by the two sides. It will play a positive role in promoting China?痵 efforts to build itself into a resource-efficient society and the nurture of its sustainable development.
