Tankong I (TK-1), a weather sounding rocket independently developed by Chinese scientists, has recently passed a design verification. Weather rocket is valuable for collecting real-time data on upper air environment ranging from 20 to 60 km.
As an integrated sounding system, the rocket can be used to collect a range of weather parameters, including upper air temperature, pressure, wind direction, and wind speed at an altitude of 20-60 km. The system can provide real time data for atmospheric studies, launch and retrieve of spacecraft, major scientific experiments, and establishing upper air models. The development is of importance to scientific researches and special weather services.
Experts said TK-1 rocket has numerous merits, including small size, light weight, fine performance, digital sounding capability, high accuracy, flexible launch setting, simple operation, and good reliability. |
